Members Beware
Phishing is a high-tech scam that uses spam or pop-up messages to deceive unsuspecting members into disclosing personal information. Smishing uses cell phone or e-mail text messages to deliver the "bait" to get you to divulge your personal information. The text message (hook) usually indicates your "immediate attention" is required to resolve an issue and refers you to a website or more commonly, a phone number that connects to an automated voice system. There you will be asked to "confirm" (enter) your personal financial information, such as your credit/debit card number, CVV code (on the back of your credit card), your ATM card PIN, SSN, email address, and other personal information.
Be aware and DO NOT RESPOND to these scams. The Credit Union may ask for personal information, but will never ask for CVV2 or Pin. Contact us immediately at 504-585-2008 if you feel you have become a victim of an e-mail scam.
